How to Become a Christian

To become a Christian, the first and most important step has already been done. God has chosen you. He loves you. He wants to live with you, and he will make sure that you can live with him. The word Christian comes from two words: Christ and man. Christ living in a man; a man living in Christ. To be a Christian then, is to be in relationship with Jesus Christ…a relationship which influences every aspect of life. Faith is, belief and trust. We need to be rescued; Jesus Christ does it for us. We trust our lives and our future to him. We are incapable of changing our sinful hearts, but through faith in Christ, we are changed by God.

You Must Believe in Jesus - "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." (John 3:16-17) "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household." (Acts 16:31)

You Must Confess Your Sins - You must acknowledge your sin, and that you want Jesus to wash your sins away. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9)

You Must Repent (Turn away from your sins) "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23) "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe in the gospel." (Mark 1:15)

You Must Confess Jesus Before Men - "If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10:9-10)

You Must Accept the Gift of Salvation - "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God."  (Ephesians 2:8) "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name." (John 1:12)
